Yeongju City Holds Evaluation Meeting on Globalization Education of Local Cuisine

Presentation of Achievements in Modernizing and Fusing Advanced and Differentiated Local Traditional Foods

On the 23rd, Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk held the 'Yeongju Local Food Globalization Education Evaluation and Completion Ceremony' at the Agricultural Technology Center auditorium.


This education program, aimed at developing fusion dishes using local ingredients and diversifying local cuisine, was conducted from August 13th for 20 participants including local food business owners and citizens interested in the dining industry.

The 10-session course included practical training on nine types of staple dishes and nine types of desserts using local ingredients.


The program featured fusion Korean dishes (Mukbap, Ginseng Yukhoe Musam, Yukjeon Salad), Japanese-style Korean dishes (Vegetable Sushi, Salmon Ginseng Dressing Sashimi, Ginseng Vegetable Tempura), Western-style Korean dishes (Shiny Kid, Korean Beef Glutinous Rice Stew, Green Onion Scone), and desserts (Madu Pudding, Olive Peanut Jeonggwa, Nut Donut Gangjeong).


During the evaluation meeting, trainees presented the dishes they developed to citizens interested in local cuisine, introducing various fusion local foods utilizing regional agricultural specialties. A tasting evaluation was also conducted for 14 types of fusion local dishes learned during the training, including 'Seonbi Nasi Goreng.'


Kwon Young-geum, Director of Yeongju Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "To promote regional economic development, we must understand the trends of change and strive to develop diverse recipes for the dining industry using local agricultural specialties," adding, "We will continue to make efforts to support education that promotes the consumption of local agricultural products."
