Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on the 23rd that the Gangwon Tourism Foundation's ‘Marine Tourism Center’ held an opening ceremony at the main conference room of Gangwon Province’s Second Government Office and officially began its operations. The Marine Tourism Center was established to revitalize the local economy through marine tourism and to promote marine leisure tourism in the Gangwon East Coast region.
Gangwon Tourism Organization (CEO Choi Seong-hyun) 'Marine Tourism Center' held an opening ceremony on the 23rd at the main conference room of the Gangwon Province Second Government Building and officially began its operations. The opening ceremony was attended by 25 people, including the head of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Global Headquarters and officials from six cities and counties in the East Coast region, celebrating the launch of the Gangwon Marine Center. The ceremony included a commemorative plaque unveiling and a report on the Marine Tourism Center’s promotion strategy, where attendees shared their expectations for the development of marine tourism in Gangwon.
The Marine Tourism Center will play a role in maximizing the use of marine tourism resources within the province, discovering and supporting various marine leisure tourism contents to attract tourists and revitalize the local economy. Based on the image of a pristine marine environment, the center plans to provide tourists with diverse experiences to create a unique marine tourism experience exclusive to Gangwon Province. The opening of the center is expected to serve as an important stepping stone for diversifying the Gangwon Tourism Foundation’s research and commercialization of marine leisure tourism resources and for the sustainable development of Gangwon’s marine tourism.
Choi Sung-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Foundation, stated, “The Marine Tourism Center will become a new milestone in marine tourism,” adding, “We will do our best to revitalize the local economy through the convergence of marine resources and the tourism industry and to further promote the charm of Gangwon.”
