Seosan City Hosts 'Academy' Inviting Oriental Philosopher Park Jaehee

Seosan City in Chungnam will hold the 86th Seosan Academy on November 5 at 6 p.m. at the Grand Performance Hall of Seosan City Culture Center, inviting the Eastern philosopher Park Jaehee as the keynote speaker.

This Seosan Academy will be held under the theme "The Sense of Balance That Protects Life," and will introduce the wisdom and insights of Eastern philosophy tailored to a modern perspective and audience.

Park Jaehee, who will deliver the lecture, earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Sungkyunkwan University Graduate School. He has served as a professor at the Korea National University of Arts Traditional Arts School, Director of Education at Sungkyunkwan, and Director of the Institute for National Cultural Contents.

He has also appeared on various TV programs such as KBS 'Morning Yard,' tvN 'Once Upon a Time Adult,' and CBS 'Time to Change the World, 15 Minutes,' and authored books including 'If You Are a Leader, Sun Tzu's Art of War' and '3-Minute Classics.'

In particular, he established Seokcheon Hakdang, a humanities study village, and has been at the forefront of popularizing the classics.

The event is open to everyone free of charge, and admission tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 5 p.m. on November 5 at the first floor of the Seosan City Culture Center.

As a pre-event performance, Seohyeon Kim, a fourth-grade student at Seodong Elementary School and a current student in the traditional arts department at the Korea National Institute for Gifted in Arts, will perform a solo Gayageum piece, followed by a Gayageum ensemble performed by four local teachers.

Lee Wanseop, Mayor of Seosan, said, "I hope this lecture will provide citizens with an opportunity to break the stereotype that Eastern philosophy is difficult and to develop an interest in the classics harmonized with the trends of the times."
