Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Member Yoo Young-il: "Gyeonggi Province Must Take Further Steps to Normalize Residential Lodging Facilities"

Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Member Yoo Young-il: "Gyeonggi Province Must Take Further Steps to Normalize Residential Lodging Facilities" Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Yoo Young-il is speaking at the "Discussion Forum for Establishing Normalization Measures for Residential Accommodation Facilities" held on the 22nd in the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly's medium conference room.

Yoo Young-il, a member of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly (People Power Party, Anyang 5), urged the Gyeonggi Province to strengthen support for unregistered facilities in addition to the government's normalization measures for 'residential lodging facilities' and to actively assist the relevant cities and counties in implementing practical support measures.

On the 22nd, Assemblyman Yoo attended the 'Discussion Forum for Establishing Normalization Measures for Residential Lodging Facilities' held in the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly conference room and stated, "On the 16th, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced measures to ease regulations such as corridor width and securing parking spaces," adding, "Gyeonggi Province plans to establish a Residential Lodging Facility Support Center to systematically support the registration of lodging businesses and change of use for unregistered facilities."

He continued, "Beyond the government's current measures for residential lodging facilities, I request Gyeonggi Province to play a guiding role in strengthening support plans by type for unregistered facilities and enabling each city and county to implement effective support measures on the ground."

He added, "If residential lodging facilities are used for residential purposes, it causes deterioration of the living environment such as parking shortages and school overcrowding. To prevent this, it is necessary to amend the 'Public Health Control Act' to require new facilities to register as lodging businesses within a certain period."

Residential lodging facilities were introduced as residences equipped with cooking facilities to meet the demand for long-term lodging. However, since they are not subject to the Housing Act and allow residents to register their address, social issues arose as they were sold for residential use during real estate overheating periods. Accordingly, the government plans to prohibit residential use of residential lodging facilities and impose enforcement fines.
