Han Kang's works 'White' and 'The Boy is Coming' Vietnamese translations donated
Gyeonggi Namyangju City (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced that it will officially visit its sister city, Vinh City in Vietnam, from the 23rd to the 27th.
This visit was promoted with the purpose of further activating mutual cooperation ahead of the 20th anniversary of exchanges between Namyangju City and Vinh City.
The Namyangju City delegation, led by Vice Mayor Hong Ji-seon and consisting of a total of seven members, plans to discuss next year's mutual visits marking the 20th anniversary of exchanges and ways to expand youth exchanges through meetings with Phan Duc Dong, Party Secretary of Vinh City, and Tran Ngoc Tu, Mayor of Vinh City.
In addition, the delegation plans to donate about 40 Korean books to the library of Thang Thai Mai Middle School located in Vinh City. Notably, among the books are Vietnamese translations of "White" and "The Boy Who Came," works by Han Kang, who was honored with the Nobel Prize in Literature, as well as books introducing the thoughts of Jeong Yak-yong, which are expected to provide local students with opportunities to experience Korean culture.
The delegation will inspect the road "Namyangju Dasan-ro," which was supported by Namyangju City and completed locally in 2017, and will visit the Ho Chi Minh birthplace and the Quang Trung Emperor Shrine.
