Yangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 23rd that the Sinam Reservoir Forest Camping Site, which officially began operation last September, is gaining popularity as an eco-friendly camping site.
The opening ceremony of the forest camping site at Sinam Reservoir was held on the 18th.
About 80 people attended the event, including Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju, city council members, heads of local organizations in Nam-myeon, and residents. The event proceeded with a progress report, commemorative speech, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and facility tour.
The Sinam Reservoir Forest Camping Site project was selected in 2020 as part of the Special Situation Area Development Project for Border Areas. It covers a total area of 50,000㎡ with facility space of 4,747㎡ at San 24-3, Sinam-ri, Nam-myeon, with a total project cost of 2.8 billion KRW.
Main facilities include 13 camping decks, 2 auto camping sites, 18 parking spaces, a management building (with shower rooms and restrooms), and a washing area. Usage fees are 40,000 KRW for decks on weekends (30,000 KRW on weekdays) and 35,000 KRW for auto camping (25,000 KRW on weekdays). Yangju citizens or eligible discount recipients can receive a 30% discount on these fees.
The forest camping site officially started operations for the general public on the 23rd of last month, and as of now, 369 sites have been reserved until November 30.
Weekday reservation rates are about 50%, while weekends and holidays are fully booked at 100%, providing high satisfaction to campers who want to enjoy camping in a quiet and pleasant forest environment.
Reservations for the camping site can be made through the Korea Forest Service’s integrated reservation management system, ‘Sumnadeul-e’. For more details, contact the Yangju City Forestry Division or the Sinam Reservoir Forest Camping Site management office.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun stated, “Through the operation of the Sinam Reservoir Forest Camping Site, we aim to attract tourists to Gamaksan Mountain and revitalize the local economy. Although it is small now, we plan to create a representative landmark in the northern Gyeonggi region by linking it with the upcoming Yangju Natural Recreation Forest project, thereby promoting the development of the relatively underdeveloped northwest area of Yangju and resolving long-standing local residents’ concerns.”
