Full Tuition Support for Recipients
On the 23rd, Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has become the first in the nation to support the training expenses for six teachers within the city to obtain the 'Environmental Educator' certification.
This year, the city launched a pilot project to fully cover the training costs for teachers who acquire the Environmental Educator certification, aiming to ensure practical environmental education takes place in schools. An Environmental Educator is an expert who plans, conducts, analyzes, and evaluates environmental education programs or carries out related educational activities.

The city supports 50% of the training expenses for teachers in Yongin’s elementary, middle, and high schools who pass the final evaluation of the Environmental Educator training course. Notably, since the National Environmental Education Center reimburses the remaining 50% of the training costs upon final certification, teachers effectively receive full financial support for their training.
Through this support, six teachers from Deokyeong High School, Pungcheon Elementary School, Gongse Elementary School, Dongbaek Elementary School, Neungwon Elementary School, and the Yongin Office of Education have obtained the Environmental Educator certification.
A city official stated, "We expect that enhancing teachers’ capabilities in environmental education will allow our students to receive more specialized environmental education," adding, "We will continue to support efforts to improve expertise in the field of environmental education next year as well."
