This volunteer activity was conducted as part of the 'Love Home Repair' campaign, following residential environment improvements at Dongtan Love House and Gwangju Gonjiam Bethany Hill. About 30 employees from Bando Construction headquarters, Northern CS Office, and Bando Cultural Foundation participated in the construction.
Seongmo Jae Protection Workshop is a vocational rehabilitation facility for the disabled that opened in 2005. It establishes individualized vocational rehabilitation plans and provides adaptation training so that people with disabilities can access opportunities for social participation through free economic activities. It also supports vocational preparation adaptation training, field trips, and education.
Now in its 20th year, Seongmo Jae Protection Workshop had many inconveniences for disabled workers with physical difficulties due to aging facilities.
Bando Construction repainted the workshop walls, replaced the ventilation fans, painted the ceiling and walls of the windbreak room, and newly installed the windbreak room sign and lighting. Braille blocks for the visually impaired were also replaced to alleviate discomfort during movement.
Lee Jeong-ryeol, head of the construction division, said, "Following the residential environment improvement activities for the disabled in the first half of the year, it is meaningful that employees participated together in improving the working environment. We plan to continue volunteer activities steadily to contribute to expanding opportunities for social participation of socially vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities."
Since starting the ‘Love House’ construction sponsorship project for elderly living alone in the community in 2006, Bando Construction has carried out various residential environment improvement activities. After establishing the Bando Cultural Foundation, it has conducted home repair support and sponsorship projects for socially vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone with disabilities, basic livelihood security recipients, and multicultural families.
