Taean County in South Chungcheong Province is receiving a great response for its proactive approach of directly reaching out to consumers in major cities to diversify sales channels for its local agricultural and specialty products.
Throughout October, the county is holding a promotional event at the outdoor permanent market of Hyundai Outlet in Daejeon, offering over 100 local agricultural and specialty products such as sweet potatoes, garlic, dried agricultural goods, fruits, and seafood at discounted prices, along with various events.
This event, organized together with Cheongyang County, aims to raise the interest of urban consumers in Taean's renowned agricultural and specialty products and enhance the region's image. By cooperating, the two counties have expanded the scale of the event while avoiding duplicate sales of agricultural products and dividing roles to improve efficiency.
Consumers visiting the event responded positively, saying, "I'm satisfied because I can buy specialty products at lower prices since they are being sold directly by local producers," "I trust this event because the local government is directly involved," and "The quality is so good that I want to visit again in the future."
The county is also joining hands with the major distribution company Shinsegae Co., operating pop-up stores at Shinsegae Department Stores in Busan, Daejeon, and Gwangju from the 18th to November 6th, making every effort to actively promote local food.
The county plans to actively reflect consumer opinions by expanding the range and improving the quality of agricultural and specialty products, as well as conducting aggressive promotional campaigns such as discounted sales to introduce the charm of Taean to consumers nationwide.
A county official said, "We are actively participating in various online and offline events to promote the excellence of Taean's agricultural and specialty products," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure the smooth operation of the event at Hyundai Outlet until the 31st."
