'Future Strategy Industry Discovery Plan Forum' to be Held in Wonju on the 22nd
Consensus on the Need to Attract the 'Technology Institute' to Wonju for Training Talent in Advanced Medical and AI Industries
The "Future Strategy Industry Discovery and Talent Development Forum," hosted and organized by Wonju City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Won Gang-su), was held on the 22nd at Villard Amor in Wonju.
On the 22nd, presenters and panelists are engaged in a discussion at the 'Future Strategy Industry Discovery and Talent Development Plan Forum' hosted and organized by Wonju City. This forum was promoted to establish Wonju City as a representative industrial and economic hub of Gangwon Province, and in response to the urgent need for nurturing scientific and technological talents in related fields such as semiconductors, digital healthcare, and bio in addition to the existing medical device industry. It aims to solidify its status as a knowledge-based advanced industrial city and seek development directions to enhance competitiveness through technological advancement of local industries and cultivation of scientific talents.
The event was attended by about 120 local residents interested in discovering strategic industries and talent development in Wonju City, including Mayor Won Gang-su, members of the National Assembly, provincial councilors, heads of major institutions and organizations, and officials from related agencies.
Starting with Park Gu-seon, Honorary Research Fellow at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Planning and Evaluation, followed by presentations by Yeo Hyun-duk, Director of KAIST G-School, and Cho Young-hee, Director of the Future Industry Promotion Institute. Professors from related academic fields, industry representatives, and Wonju City’s responsible directors participated as panelists to analyze scientific and technological industries and talent development plans and discuss the development direction of Wonju City’s science and technology industry.
On the 22nd, at the 'Future Strategy Industry Discovery and Talent Development Plan Forum' hosted and organized by Wonju City, Mayor Won Gang-su (center) and the speakers are taking a commemorative photo. The main presentation topics included ▲Park Gu-seon’s “Changes in Advanced Medical Industry, Challenges: Opportunities,” ▲Yeo Hyun-duk’s “Science and Technology Industry and Future Talent Direction in the AI Era,” and ▲Cho Young-hee’s “Attracting Gangwon Institute of Science and Technology to Wonju, Establishing Gangwon Science and Technology Sovereignty.”
Mayor Won Gang-su stated, “I hope this forum will be the first step in regional social discussions for the advancement of advanced science and technology and the cultivation of scientific talents in Wonju City.” He added, “In the future, when the Gangwon Special Act, which includes the legal basis for establishing the Gangwon Institute of Science and Technology, passes the National Assembly, I hope this will serve as an opportunity to spread public consensus so that Wonju City can attract the Gangwon Institute of Science and Technology and greatly contribute to the comprehensive development of the local community.”
