Dongducheon-si Opens Second Temporary Public Parking Lot in Bulhyeon Residential District

Dongducheon City has temporarily created a free public parking lot using vacant land in the area of 744-3 Saengyeon-dong to alleviate parking difficulties near Jihang Station and revitalize the commercial district. It has been open to citizens free of charge since this month.

Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyeong-deok) announced on the 22nd that it will temporarily create a free public parking lot using idle land in the area of 744-3, Saengyeon-dong, near Jihang Station to alleviate parking difficulties and revitalize the commercial district, and open it free of charge to citizens starting this month.

To this end, the city leased the land free of charge from the owner of the public parking lot site on the condition of a full exemption from property tax, and the landowner promised to provide the site to the city for one year and continue to provide it until a notice of termination is given.

This temporary parking lot installation is the second temporary parking lot in the Bulhyeon housing district, following last year's installation of a temporary parking lot in the area of 745-13, Saengyeon-dong, which saw high usage by citizens and helped resolve parking difficulties in the surrounding area.

Accordingly, 14 parking spaces have been secured and are currently open free of charge to residents, and the city plans to continuously persuade owners of nearby idle land to create additional public parking lots.

Mayor Park Hyeong-deok of Dongducheon said, "We will continue to make efforts to resolve parking difficulties and secure parking spaces in the downtown area, and we ask for the interest and cooperation of landowners."
