341st Extraordinary Session 5-Minute Free Speech... Remarks on Han River Writer's Nobel Literature Prize Win
On the 22nd, Kim Seong-tae, a member of the Guri City Council, spoke about the Han River writer's Nobel Prize in Literature and the promotion plan for reading culture in Guri City during a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 341st extraordinary meeting. On the 22nd, Kim Seong-tae, a member of the Guri City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Shin Dong-hwa), spoke about author Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature and measures to promote reading culture in Guri City during a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 341st extraordinary meeting.
Councilman Kim mentioned the reading boom in our society following author Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature and emphasized the need for policies to improve youth literacy and promote reading culture in Guri City. He proposed five policies to the city for this purpose.
The proposals are as follows: first, expansion of youth reading programs; second, strengthening cooperation with local bookstores; third, establishment of a digital reading platform; fourth, fostering and supporting a reading culture with families; and fifth, enhancing campaigns to improve youth literacy, totaling five policies.
Councilman Kim Seong-tae stated, “Taking author Han Kang's Nobel Prize in Literature as an opportunity, our Guri City should take greater interest in promoting reading culture.” He added, “Through various policies to promote reading culture, I hope an environment will be created in Guri City where youth can dream bigger and have a better future, and that excellent writers following Han Kang will emerge.”
