Gijang Disabled Welfare Center Takes Initiative to Improve Resident Awareness
Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) conducted a campaign to promote compliance with parking spaces designated for the disabled on the 20th along the Jwagwangcheon Stream in Jeonggwan-eup, in collaboration with the Gijang Disabled Welfare Center (Director Kim Young-gwan).
Gijang-gun is conducting a campaign to promote compliance with parking spaces designated for people with disabilities.
This campaign was organized to raise awareness about parking spaces designated for the disabled due to the recent surge in reports of violations, and was held in conjunction with the Jeonggwan Ecological Stream Learning and Culture Festival.
On the day of the event, about 20 participants including officials from Gijang County Office and the Gijang Disabled Welfare Center took part. To improve residents’ correct understanding of parking spaces designated for the disabled, promotional banners were displayed, and informational leaflets and promotional items regarding the use of these parking spaces were distributed.
Parking spaces designated for the disabled are subject to immediate enforcement regardless of parking duration. Since violations can now be reported in real-time through smartphone apps such as the ‘Safe Report’ app, residents were urged to be fully aware of this and to take care not to become subject to enforcement.
Jeong Jong-bok, Governor of Gijang-gun, stated, “We will make multifaceted efforts to foster an environment that considers transportation-vulnerable groups within the region, while ensuring the mobility rights and improving convenience for socially disadvantaged individuals.”
Gijang-gun has organized a guidance team for parking spaces designated for the disabled to conduct regular patrols, installed informational banners in areas with frequent parking violations, and conducts quarterly compliance campaigns for parking spaces designated for the disabled in cooperation with organizations and facilities related to the disabled.
