Nadongyeon, Yangsan Mayor, Completes Disaster Safety Training in Second Half of This Year

Na Dong-yeon, Mayor of Yangsan City, Gyeongnam, completed the 2024 second half local government heads disaster safety training held at the National Civil Defense Disaster Safety Education Center located in Gongju City, Chungnam on the 22nd.

This training was organized as part of the comprehensive measures to reform the national safety system, following the mandatory requirement for heads of basic local governments to complete disaster safety training.

The training focused on recent highly topical disaster cases such as electric vehicle and battery fires, as well as understanding and utilizing weather, and mastering the core duties of basic local governments.

In addition, the national response system and policy projects aimed at enhancing basic capabilities for efficient disaster response were discussed in depth. Through this, each head of basic local government showed a response that they could more deeply recognize their responsibility as the primary response agency in the event of a disaster.

Mayor Na Dong-yeon said, “Starting from this training, we will reexamine the roles of each department to enable swift and appropriate responses in the event of a disaster,” adding, “We will do our best to create a safer city for citizens by strengthening the capabilities of disaster response departments.”

Yangsan City plans to continuously strengthen related plans and measures to be prepared to effectively respond to disasters even in potential disaster situations.
