Busan Transportation Corporation Wins Bronze Award in 'Beautiful Restroom Contest'

Child-Friendly Environment, Praised for Distinctive Design

Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byung-jin) announced on the 22nd that the restroom at Geumryeonsan Station on Line 2 received the Bronze Prize (Minister of the Interior and Safety Award) in the '26th Beautiful Restroom Awards' contest.

The 'Beautiful Restroom Awards' is an annual contest hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Restroom Culture Citizens' Coalition to improve restroom usage culture. This year, a total of 80 locations from local governments and institutions nationwide applied, and 27 sites were finally selected.

The restroom at Geumryeonsan Station, renovated in 2017, maintains cleanliness despite being a facility used by many citizens. It received high marks for creating a child-friendly environment by providing a washbasin for infants and toddlers and a urinal for boys inside the women's restroom.

Additionally, a large pictogram sign with high visibility is installed at the entrance to enhance user convenience, and inside, a golden mosaic tile washbasin depicting the waves and sandy beach of Gwangalli Sea showcases regional characteristics.

Since 2006, the corporation has won the 'Beautiful Restroom Awards' a total of 14 times, leading the spread of advanced restroom culture in urban rail transit.

Lee Byung-jin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, said, “Since urban rail restrooms are spaces used by many citizens, the corporation is making special efforts in maintenance regarding safety, convenience, and hygiene. We will continue to strive to ensure that urban rail restrooms can be used with satisfaction.”
