Yang Kyung-ae, Guri City Council Member, "Support Policies Needed for Middle-Aged Group 4050" Yang Kyung-ae, a member of the Guri City Council, is delivering a 5-minute free speech on the necessity of support for middle-aged and older adults in their 40s to 50s during the 1st plenary session of the 341st extraordinary meeting on the 22nd.

Yang Kyung-ae, a member of the Guri City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Chairman Shin Dong-hwa), delivered a 5-minute free speech on the necessity of support for middle-aged and older adults in their 40s to 50s at the 1st plenary session of the 341st extraordinary meeting on the 22nd.

Councilor Yang pointed out that the middle-aged and older adults aged 41 to 60, who make up 34% of the total population of Guri City, currently play a central role in the local economy. However, after retirement, they face difficulties in reemployment and experience role loss due to social and economic changes, which causes various social problems. She emphasized the need for policies to prevent these issues and proposed four policies to the city administration.

The proposals include strengthening support for reemployment and entrepreneurship for the middle-aged and older adults, expanding psychological and social support programs for them, providing various education and programs to prevent reclusive middle-aged adults and creating communication spaces, and supporting health management and leisure activities for the middle-aged and older adults.

Councilor Yang Kyung-ae said, “Through my 5-minute free speech, I hope that all citizens of Guri will empathize with the social and economic problems faced by the middle-aged and older adults,” and added, “I hope that Guri City will actively reflect my four policy proposals so that the middle-aged and older adults who have sacrificed for the country, society, and family will receive proper treatment and that Guri will become a happy city.”
