Dongducheon City Councilor Kwon Young-gi: "Road Construction Needed for Sangwoo Apartment Senior Center"

Kwon Young-gi, an independent council member of Dongducheon City (District Na), is proposing the opening of a road behind the Sangwoo Apartment senior center.

Kwon Young-gi, a council member of Dongducheon City Council in Gyeonggi Province (Independent, District Na), proposed the construction of a road behind the Sangwoo Apartment senior citizens' center. This was presented during the 5-minute free speech session at the 1st plenary meeting of the 333rd Dongducheon City Council temporary session held on the 22nd.

Councilman Kwon emphasized, "The most important priority in administration is safety," recalling Heinrich's Law that "if small and minor issues are neglected, they can lead to major accidents."

According to Councilman Kwon, 154 residents from Sangwoo Apartment and Joheung Apartment have collectively petitioned the city hall and city council to construct a road behind the Sangwoo Apartment senior citizens' center. They appealed, "Although the area has been marked as a road for 15 years, there is no actual road, and the path is very rough. Because of this, there have been continuous accidents such as elderly falls, juvenile delinquency, and even sexual crimes."

Councilman Kwon raised his voice, stating, "While it may not be possible to address all road-related petitions at once due to budget and practical constraints, requests to eliminate 'risks to citizen safety' rather than simply 'inconveniences' must be handled urgently."

He urged the city administration to carefully inspect road-related petitions, especially those directly linked to resident safety, and to resolve them promptly through budget planning and road construction and maintenance.
