Obong Lounge, promoted as part of the Special Situation Area Specialization Project (Phase 2), serves various roles such as △ village cooperative market and village cafe △ local community space △ local job creation, and was established as a regional community hub aiming to improve residents' welfare and revitalize the local economy.
Obong Lounge remodeled the Gyohyeon-ri Village Hall (2 floors above ground, total floor area 124.44㎡) located at 270 Gyohyeon-ri, Jangheung-myeon into a village cooperative market and village cafe.
The Gyohyeon Obong Village Cooperative, consisting of about 10 local residents, promoted a barefoot experience using Nordic walking as a pilot project for resident income generation in conjunction with the Barefoot Walking Contest on Uiryeong-gil on the 5th, and held a 1+1 Americano event to promote the village cafe. They also exhibited and sold 'Obong Village Specialty Goods' and products produced by social cooperatives within Yangju City at the village cooperative market.
Since its opening, Obong Lounge has been especially popular among visitors for the Obong Set dessert, a collaboration with the famous bakery Gorae Bakery in Bundang.
Going forward, Obong Lounge is expected to contribute to increasing local income and development through active activities such as promoting resident income projects and continuously developing specialized experiences and products unique to Uiryeong.
Mayor Gang Su-hyun of Yangju City stated, “We are preparing various programs utilizing the natural scenic resources for everyone visiting the Uiryeong-gil trail,” and added, “We will strive harder to ensure that both local residents and visitors are satisfied and happy through the Special Situation Area Specialization Project.”
Meanwhile, Gyohyeon-ri, Jangheung-myeon, has conducted △ village development planning △ resident capacity-building education through the Special Situation Area Specialization Project (Phase 1), and after being selected for the Special Situation Area Specialization Project (Phase 2) in 2022, it is carrying out projects utilizing local natural environment and historical cultural resources such as △ creating a hydrangea flower village △ building Obong Lounge △ developing an integrated brand △ developing Obong Village programs.
