On the 22nd, Pohang City conducted customized education on prostitution and domestic violence prevention for senior public officials in the city hall's large conference room.
Following the sexual harassment and sexual violence prevention education held in March, this session was organized to emphasize the importance of managers' roles in fostering a gender-equal public service culture through a proper shift in awareness about sexuality and to strengthen their capabilities.
The prostitution and domestic violence prevention education was conducted by Lee Hee-ae, director of a support facility for prostitution victims and a professional instructor from the Korea Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education, under the theme of "Creating a Safe Community and an Equal Organizational Culture."
Mayor Lee Kang-deok stated, “To establish a gender-equal and healthy public service culture, senior public officials must take the lead in enhancing gender awareness capabilities. We will do our best to ensure that a culture of consideration and respect, which can improve awareness of violence and prevent it through continuous education, is firmly established.”
Pohang City conducts the four major violence prevention education annually for all employees using various methods such as plays and discussion-based training, while senior public officials receive separate customized face-to-face education to reinforce their managerial roles and responsibilities.
Additionally, this year, gender awareness education is being provided to citizens through outreach programs in towns and neighborhoods, with Pohang City making every effort to establish a culture of gender equality.
