Osan City Hall Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities, Relocated from Underground to Above Ground

Expand Parking Space Width

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 22nd that it has completed the relocation of electric vehicle charging facilities installed underground to the ground level to ensure the safety of the city hall building and prevent damage.

This measure was taken because, in the event of an electric vehicle fire in the underground parking lot, fire truck access is limited and firefighting activities are difficult, raising concerns about human and property damage as well as administrative work paralysis.

Through this project, the city relocated nine electric vehicle charging stations from the underground parking lot to the ground level and improved the parking spaces. In particular, during the relocation to the ground level, the width of the parking spaces was increased from 2.3m to 2.5m to enhance accessibility and convenience for citizens, the city explained.

A city official said, "Given the recent concerns about electric vehicle fires, we will strengthen facility inspections and expand fire safety equipment to prevent any damage."
