On the 22nd, E8, a leading domestic digital twin company, announced that it has entered into a joint development and sales partnership with SOS Lab and Smart Radar System to develop a digital twin-based autonomous driving solution.
As smart city development accelerates worldwide, the market for autonomous driving solutions centered on major cities is growing rapidly. In Arizona, USA, autonomous taxi services have been commercialized, safely transporting thousands of passengers daily. San Francisco is conducting tests for the commercialization of autonomous vehicles. Through this partnership, the three companies will develop autonomous driving-based mobility services within smart cities.
SOS Lab possesses a fully fixed LiDAR product that supports a wide field of view and long-distance measurement for autonomous driving. This LiDAR is designed to be compact, making installation highly convenient. It is gaining attention as an alternative to address privacy concerns associated with CCTV.
Additionally, Smart Radar System, a developer of autonomous walking radar solutions, provides technology optimized for detecting spatial occupancy. Its power consumption features consider energy efficiency. This technology focuses on ensuring user safety by detecting road traffic volume in real time. Such systems are expected to play a crucial role in smoothing vehicle flow within cities and preventing accidents.
E8 is carrying out the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport-led project "Development of Autonomous Driving Lv4/4+ Big Data Utilized Road Traffic Twin." Its proprietary 3D imaging-based traffic control simulation solution is currently applied in Goyang City as a real-time signal control service. As the digital twin builder for the national pilot city project, Sejong Smart City, E8 is developing an autonomous driving service model within the city. E8 plans to jointly build autonomous driving-based mobility services, one of the core services of smart cities, with SOS Lab and Smart Radar System using its own simulation and digital twin technologies.
Jinhyun Kim, CEO of E8, stated, “This partnership will play a significant role in technological innovation in the rapidly growing global autonomous driving market, offering new mobility experiences and establishing itself as a core element of smart cities.”
