Ahead of the 2nd Meeting Between Han Dong-hoon and Lee Jae-myung, Ruling and Opposition Parties
Jin Sung-jun: "Even the National Assembly Must Step Up to Resolve the Medical Crisis"
"Let's Openly Discuss the Urgent Livelihood Economy Agenda in Crisis"
Jin Seong-jun, the Policy Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, proposed 'medical crisis' and 'economic recovery for people's livelihood' as agenda items for the second round of talks between the ruling and opposition party leaders. Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, responded positively to Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party's recent proposal to meet.
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 22nd, Chair Jin said, "Leader Han has accepted the proposal for a meeting between the ruling and opposition party leaders suggested by Leader Lee," adding, "I hope we can openly discuss the agenda of the medical crisis and the livelihood economy in crisis first."
He stated, "The price of a head of cabbage has risen by 40% compared to a year ago, averaging 9,123 won," and added, "The people find even one head of kimchi cabbage burdensome; which country's story is the government's economic recovery about?" He also said, "There are about 2,700 specialists resigning from university hospitals," and remarked, "If President Yoon Seok-yeol has given up on resolving the medical crisis, then the National Assembly must step in."

The previous day (21st), Leader Lee said to Leader Han, "I hope to meet with the opposition leader if the opportunity arises." In response, Leader Han expressed his willingness to "gladly accept," and both sides began preparations for the talks. Leaders Lee and Han previously held their first meeting on the 1st of last month and agreed to establish a 'Joint Organization for Promoting Common Livelihood Pledges.'
Meanwhile, Park Chan-dae, the floor leader, said at the meeting that day, "Leader Han must now make a decision," and stated, "Seven out of ten citizens support the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act." Floor Leader Park added, "We must follow public sentiment with the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act in line with the people's expectations." There is a possibility that the Kim Geon-hee Special Prosecutor Act will also be on the agenda at the upcoming ruling-opposition talks.
