Through a total of 50 additional recommendations, the council urged that its opinions be actively reflected in the city administration.
Subsequently, 24 agenda items, including the "Ordinance on the Operation of Gwangju City Council Debates," were passed as originally proposed (including 2 items approved after opinion inquiries), and 8 items, such as the "Ordinance on Support for the Settlement of North Korean Defectors in Gwangju City" (complete revision), were approved with amendments.
At the first plenary session, there were administrative questions regarding Park Sang-young’s free speech on the need for active response to national infrastructure projects, Lee Joo-hoon’s inquiry about wastewater treatment issues at the Gyeonggi Gwangju Rest Area on the 2nd Yeongdong Expressway, and Choi Seo-yoon’s questions concerning the Gwangju City ring road network. On the last day of the session, prior to the second plenary session, there were active legislative activities including Lee Joo-hoon’s policy proposal to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities in Gwangju City, Hwang So-je’s free speech on reviewing the introduction of a pothole AI system, and measures to address risks related to electric vehicles in apartment complexes.
Chairman Heo Kyung-haeng expressed, “I sincerely thank my fellow council members for their in-depth deliberations during this session and the public officials who diligently prepared materials and responded to inquiries,” and urged, “The executive branch should actively reflect the processed agenda items and the council’s recommendations in city administration.”
