Rice Harvesting Experience No. 1 at Kawaji for Families with Children Aged 4 and Older

Goyang Agricultural Technology Center conducted the Kawaji No. 1 Rice Harvesting Experience Program on the 20th at the Goyang Kawaji Rice Seed Museum as part of the "Museum Art Garden: Seeds" program for families with children aged 4 and older.

The Goyang Agricultural Technology Center (Director Kwon Ji-seon) announced on the 21st that on the 20th, it conducted the "Museum Art Garden: Seeds" program’s Kawaji No. 1 Rice Harvesting Experience at the Goyang Kawaji Rice Seed Museum for families with children aged 4 and above.

The "Museum Art Garden: Seeds" program is an urban farming initiative that fosters cooperation and appreciation for nature through garden activities. It helps cultivate aesthetic sensitivity and healthy values through natural art play.

This education program was designed to allow children to directly experience the process from rice harvesting to becoming rice grains, including "harvesting Kawaji No. 1 rice and threshing using a wooden flail, grinding grains with a millstone and grinding board, making a crescent-shaped stone knife, and touring the Kawaji Rice Seed Museum."

In particular, it provided children with an opportunity to learn about the history and cultural value of Kawaji rice seeds, and through ecological observation of rice paddies and rice harvesting experiences, to personally appreciate the importance of the rice we eat and develop gratitude toward farmers.

An official from the Agricultural Technology Center stated, "We will focus on encouraging interest in the history and value of Kawaji rice seeds through agricultural experiences," adding, "We will continue to strive to implement programs that help people realize the importance of agriculture."
