Police Arrest Three Entertainment Establishment Employees

A group of entertainment bar employees who detained a Chinese tourist visiting Jeju and charged several million won on a credit card for fake Western liquor is currently on trial, while it was recently revealed that a veteran detective team conducted a ten-day stakeout to apprehend them.

According to the police on the 21st, the Seogwipo Police Station arrested three people, including a male employee in his 20s, Mr. A, on April 13 on charges of special robbery and violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes (joint confinement).

They are accused of assaulting and detaining a 30-year-old Chinese man, Mr. B, who was drinking alone and intoxicated around 11 p.m. on March 27, and stealing his credit card to charge 6 million won.

According to the police, the group showed Mr. B, who was intoxicated, fake Western liquor mixed with low-priced alcohol and demanded payment for drinks he did not consume. When Mr. B refused, the group confiscated his mobile phone, confined him in a room, and assaulted him.

Mr. A and his group grabbed Mr. B’s arms in fear, threw him to the floor, and took his credit card. They then made charges totaling about 6 million won in two transactions before releasing him. Mr. B experienced this incident just one day after arriving in Jeju as a tourist.

Following Mr. B’s report, the Seogwipo Police Station’s Criminal Investigation Team 5 began a stakeout around the entertainment bar from the day after the incident. The police confirmed the conspiracy between the main suspect Mr. A, who denied the crime, and other suspects by sharing real-time information through social networking services (SNS) and with Mr. B, who had already left the country.

Currently, Mr. A and two others have been indicted and are undergoing trial.
