87% of Zeta Users Are Teens and Twenties
High Immersion and Personalization... Average Daily Use of 130 Minutes
Protection Measures Implemented Including Keyword Filtering and Three-Strikes Policy
Generative AI startup ScatterLab announced on the 21st that its interactive AI content platform 'Zeta' surpassed 1 million cumulative users just six months after its launch.
Launched in April this year, Zeta is a platform where users can create AI characters of their choice and enjoy highly immersive, hyper-personalized story content. In August, Zeta ranked 10th in the 'Most Used Apps by Koreans by Generation' survey conducted by WiseApp, Retail, and Goods, an app and retail analysis service, as the app most used by those under 20 during the month, gaining significant popularity especially among younger users.
Zeta is available to users aged 14 and above. Among its 1 million users, those in their teens and twenties accounted for about 87%, followed by users in their 30s (7%) and those aged 40 and above (6%). The gender ratio showed 65% female and 35% male users. As of this month, approximately 1.4 million characters have been created within Zeta, and the average daily usage time per user reaches about 130 minutes.
In September alone, Zeta recorded about 970 million user utterances, with conversations involving the popular character 'Iljin-nyeo Suhyeon' accounting for approximately 90 million (based on user utterances excluding AI). Other popular male characters included 'Chai Seok' and 'Kang Dohyuk.'
Zeta's popularity is attributed to its feature allowing users to create AI characters tailored to their preferences and interact with them, becoming the protagonist of their own story through conversations and text, creating vivid content much like a web novel.
Recently, ScatterLab introduced new features to enhance user immersion, such as the ability to hear AI character responses in voice and automatic generation of background images matching the locations where story conversations take place.
Kim Jong-yoon, CEO of ScatterLab, stated, "We will continue to strive to become a differentiated AI platform that provides a broader user experience through ongoing service advancement."
Meanwhile, ScatterLab is making efforts to ensure that Zeta complies with ethical principles as an AI service through various measures. To prevent inappropriate conversations between AI and users, technical measures such as abuse detection models and keyword filtering systems are in place, along with policies like a three-strike rule and the establishment of an emergency response system.
