Model and Entrepreneur, Surgical Site Bursts on Plane
Severe Infection Leads to Partial Resection Surgery
Netizens "Wishing a Speedy Recovery"
Kurie Mi, a famous Japanese gravure (photo) model and entrepreneur, reportedly underwent partial resection surgery after an infection developed at the surgical site following a flight immediately after her operation.
According to Japanese media outlets such as Nikkan Sports and Asahi TV on the 21st, Kurie Mi posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account, "An infection developed at the surgical site while I was on the plane," adding, "I had surgery yesterday, but the wound was more infected than expected, so part of it was resected." She added, "My appearance is no longer the same, so for the time being, I will have to post old photos."
Kurie Mi is known to have undergone three major surgeries this year alone. A month ago, she had tumor removal surgery and visited the hospital daily. After finishing outpatient treatment, she boarded a flight to San Francisco on the 17th, which became the turning point. About five hours after takeoff, the surgical site began to hurt, and bleeding occurred, causing pain throughout her body. She reportedly thought, "Am I going to die like this?" Searching the internet on the plane, she learned that flying after surgery can cause pain or bleeding at the wound due to pressure differences, and she commented, "I was really surprised. I will be careful after returning home." Since the wound did not heal after arriving in the U.S., she eventually returned to Japan.
Kurie Mi said, "I had many things I wanted to do, so I pushed myself too hard, but through this experience, I learned the lesson that I should prioritize my health and not delay any longer." She added, "From now on, I plan to be hospitalized in a large hospital to prevent the infection from spreading further and receive treatment. Even if it hurts, I will endure it, so I hope you will continue to support me. I will come back someday looking even more beautiful."
Japanese netizens wished Kurie Mi a speedy recovery on her SNS, leaving comments such as "I don't mind the scars," "Scars are part of individuality," "I became a fan because of her cute appearance, but now she is a woman with a beautiful inner self," and "It will take a lot of time to recover, so let's all support her."
Kurie Mi is active not only as a gravure idol, model, and actress but also as an entrepreneur, having founded a cosmetics company and the AI-specialized firm ‘Pinikio’.
