The thriller "Ordinary Family," starring actors Seol Kyung-gu and Kim Hee-ae, topped the box office during its opening weekend.


According to the Korea Film Council's integrated ticket sales network on the 21st, the film "Ordinary Family" (directed by Heo Jin-ho) attracted 206,899 viewers over the three days from the 18th to the 20th, securing the number one spot at the box office. It accounted for 28.2% of the total sales revenue. Since its release on the 16th, the cumulative audience has reached 289,746. The movie depicts the unraveling of two couples who lived by their own beliefs after watching CCTV footage of their children's crime scene.


"Veteran 2" (directed by Ryu Seung-wan), which had held the top spot for about five weeks, dropped to second place with 75,404 viewers. Since its release on the 13th of last month, its cumulative audience has reached 7,441,590.


The animated film "Wild Robot" attracted 74,612 viewers, ranking third, while "Love in a Big City" (directed by Lee Eon-hee), starring Kim Go-eun and Noh Sang-hyun, took fourth place with 73,244 viewers. "Don't Touch Dirty Money," released on the 17th, drew 46,817 viewers and started at fifth place on its opening weekend. The re-released film "Notebook" (26,899 viewers) ranked sixth, followed by "Smile 2" (21,291 viewers) in seventh place. The total number of moviegoers over the weekend was 672,365.


The atmosphere in theaters is expected to change soon. As of 9 a.m. on the same day, real-time reservation rates show that "Venom: Let There Be Carnage," the third installment of the Hollywood blockbuster "Venom," set to be released on the 23rd, leads with 39.1% (62,120 reservations). The comedy "Amazon Hwal-myeong-su," starring Ryu Seung-ryong and Jin Sun-kyu, scheduled for release on the 30th, is in second place with 16.9% (26,937 reservations).
