"Female Who Scratched Parked Car Promised to Pay Repair Costs but Sent Medical Certificate"

A Woman Walking with Friends Collides with a Parked Car She Didn't See

A woman who scratched a parked car and was asked for repair costs instead presented a medical certificate, revealing an unusual story.

Recently, Han Moon-cheol's YouTube channel 'Han Moon-cheol TV' covered an accident between a parked vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred in the parking lot of Mapo Agricultural and Marine Products Market in Seoul.

According to car owner Mr. A, he parked his car in the Mapo Agricultural and Marine Products Market parking lot at around 5:46 PM on the 6th. A few hours later, upon returning to his car, Mr. A discovered scratches on the vehicle. He then checked the car’s black box, which recorded a woman walking with her companions, bumping into the hood of his parked car and complaining of pain.

Realizing that the spot where the scratches appeared on the car matched the place where the woman bumped into it on the black box footage, Mr. A found the woman nearby. The woman promised to compensate for the damage to Mr. A’s vehicle at the scene, but the next day she demanded compensation and even presented a medical certificate, requesting a personal injury claim. It is reported that the woman claimed, "The parked car obstructed my path and was dark-colored, so I couldn’t see it."

Attorney Han asked about the parking lot, "Isn’t this a compact car-only zone?" but Mr. A replied, "It is not a compact car-only zone." Attorney Han pointed out pedestrian negligence as the cause of the accident, citing that Mr. A did not park in a compact car-only zone and that he had parked with the rear wheels as close as possible to the curb stopper at the back of the parking space. Although the front of the car slightly extended beyond the parking space due to the short length of the parking spot, he expressed the opinion that this was not problematic.

Netizens who watched the video responded with various comments such as, "If you made a mistake, just admit it cleanly," "I’m curious about how severe the scratches on the car are," and "You should watch where you’re going and be careful when walking."
