Friendly Visit to Promote Civil Exchange and Strengthen Friendship Between Friendship Associations

Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 21st that on the 19th, a citizen goodwill delegation from Hadano City, Japan, Paju's overseas sister city, visited Paju to attend the Paju Kaesong Ginseng Festival and to promote private exchanges between the friendship associations of the two cities.
The Hadano City citizen goodwill delegation, led by Noboru Fukumori, president of the Hadano-Paju Friendship Association, attended the Paju Kaesong Ginseng Festival, toured Paju's agricultural specialties and processed products including ginseng, and enjoyed the festival by visiting local restaurants.
Since its establishment in 2000, the Hadano-Paju Friendship Association has been steadily active in promoting private exchanges and friendship between the two cities. Correspondingly, the Paju-Hadano Friendship Association (President Kim Kyung-sun) was founded in 2017 and has been playing a central role in private exchanges.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, "Future international exchanges must be citizen-led," and added, "We hope for much interest and cooperation so that citizen-centered exchanges can expand."
Hadano City is an eco-friendly city located in the central-western part of Kanagawa Prefecture, 60 km from Tokyo. Paju and Hadano became sister cities in October 2005 and have been actively exchanging in various fields such as youth, sports, culture, and administration.
