Icheon City Hosts 'Korea-China Master Ceramics Exchange Exhibition' in China

Participation in Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair

On the 20th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it is participating in the '2024 Jingdezhen International Ceramic Fair,' which has been held since the 18th in Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province, China, and will host the 'Korea-China Master Ceramist Exchange Exhibition.'

Jingdezhen is the largest ceramic production area in China, with more than 60% of its population engaged in ceramics and pottery-related fields. The city holds an international ceramic fair every October.

Icheon City’s delegation, led by Director of Economic and Financial Affairs Lee Jae-hak, will participate in this fair to benchmark local content such as ceramic culture exchange and tourism.

In particular, the event will also feature the 'Korea-China Master Ceramist Exchange Exhibition.' The exchange exhibition will showcase over 80 ceramic works by 19 ceramists from the Icheon Master Ceramist Association and Icheon City, along with 13 Chinese ceramic art masters (大師).

Previously, the two cities signed a friendship agreement in 1997 and have continued active ceramic cultural tourism exchanges through a sister city partnership established in 2007. Mayor Kim Kyung-hee of Icheon said, "We will continue to promote various policies to enhance mutual friendship and develop cultural tourism exchanges between Korea and China."

Meanwhile, after completing the fair schedule, the city delegation plans to visit Wuxi City, a friendship city since 2005, to discuss ways to expand exchanges before returning home on the 22nd.
