On the 20th, Judge Seong Jae-min of the Criminal Division 3 at the Namyangju Branch of Uijeongbu District Court announced that A (64), who was indicted without detention on charges of special injury, was sentenced to one year in prison. However, the court did not order immediate detention to allow an opportunity for settlement with the victim.

Earlier, A was accused of throwing a soju bottle and soju glass while drinking with B (48) at a karaoke bar in Guri-si, Gyeonggi Province on December 21 of last year. B was hit in the face by the soju glass thrown by A, resulting in injuries to teeth and other areas. Police investigation confirmed that the crime was committed out of anger because B called A "ajumma."

Judge Seong explained the sentencing by stating, "The fact that the defendant threw the soju bottle is acknowledged, and considering the extent of the injury and the injured areas, the nature of the crime is serious," adding, "The sentence was determined taking into account the defendant’s past record of two fines for violent crimes."
