A fire broke out at an industrial machinery manufacturing factory in Incheon, spreading damage to nearby hills, prompting the fire authorities to raise the alert level and begin firefighting efforts.
According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters on the 20th, the fire occurred at around 8:44 a.m. at a machinery manufacturing factory in Wanggil-dong, Seo-gu.
Four factory buildings were burned, and black smoke soared into the sky along with the flames. So far, no casualties have been reported.
The fire spread to the surrounding hills, leading forestry authorities and local governments to join the firefighting efforts.
The fire authorities issued a 'Response Level 1' alert 30 minutes after the fire broke out and escalated it to 'Response Level 2' at 11:02 a.m., 2 hours and 18 minutes later.
Strong winds at the fire scene are reportedly making firefighting difficult. A fire official stated, "We plan to investigate the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire as soon as the fire is extinguished."
