Gwangju-si Opo 1-dong, Gyeonggi Province, Holds Event to Celebrate Surpassing 30,000 Population On the 18th, Opo 1-dong in Gwangju City held a 'Celebration for Surpassing 30,000 Population' event in front of the Opo 1-dong office building.

On the 18th, Opo 1-dong in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi Province, held a 'Celebration of Surpassing 30,000 Population' event in front of the Opo 1-dong community center.

At the event, about 10 heads of organizations, including Dongjang Gu Jeong-seo, the chairman of the Opo 1-dong Tongjang Association, and the chairman of the Residents' Autonomy Committee, attended and welcomed the 29,999th (Jang Hoon), 30,000th (Kim Su-hwan), and 30,001st (Kim Young-il) new residents of Opo 1-dong.

The event included an introduction to Opo 1-dong, conversations between new residents and organization heads, presentation of certificates of residence, and photo sessions, serving as an opportunity to strengthen the bonds among local residents in celebration of surpassing a population of 30,000.

Since the administrative district reorganization in September 2022, which divided the Opo area into four dongs, Opo 1-dong has seen large apartment complexes such as The Sharp Opo Centriche and Opo Xi Objet move in, showing a growth trend with an increase of about 9,000 residents in two years, surpassing 30,000 population in early October.

Dongjang Gu Jeong-seo said, “As Opo 1-dong is rapidly growing, we will do our best to make Opo 1-dong an even better place to live by expanding various infrastructures and improving the residential environment.”
