Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, is presenting the direction for city development at the 2nd plenary session of the 307th Namyangju City Council temporary meeting held on the 18th. Joo Gwang-deok, Mayor of Namyangju City, provided in-depth answers to city council members' questions during the 1st and 2nd plenary sessions of the 307th Namyangju City Council extraordinary meeting held on the 17th and 18th, presenting directions for city administration development.
First, on the 17th, in response to Councilor Kim Dong-hoon's question about revitalizing the Byeollae-dong cafe street, Mayor Joo stated, "To activate the Byeollae-dong cafe street, which has improved accessibility due to the opening of Line 8, we are considering creating a nature-friendly space, installing landscape lighting, and introducing media facades," adding, "We will continuously pay attention and provide support to revitalize the local economy."
Then, on the 18th, regarding Councilor Han Song-yeon's question about expanding youth facilities in the Wabu area, Mayor Joo said, "Providing spaces where youth can dream and challenge themselves is a very important task," and explained the plan to establish the Deokso Elementary School Complex Cultural Center, a youth-exclusive space.
The facility was selected in August for the 'Ministry of Education School Complex Facility Contest Project' and will be built with a total area of 3,000㎡, spanning from one basement floor to four above-ground floors. In particular, the city plans to create a 600㎡ youth-exclusive space on the 2nd floor so that young people can freely express various talents and enjoy leisure activities.
However, Mayor Joo acknowledged, "Until the completion of the Deokso Elementary School Complex Cultural Center, the shortage of youth-exclusive spaces may limit the available usage period, but we will carefully review the efficiency of operating temporary facilities and actively seek solutions."
Additionally, Mayor Joo added, "We plan to support youth leisure and creative activities by utilizing the functions of the 'Makerspace Imagination Workshop' within the Wabu Library."
