In October, the open plaza at Baebongsan Neighborhood Park in Dongdaemun-gu is bustling nonstop.
In celebration of the "season of festivals," Baebongsan Plaza, prepared by Dongdaemun-gu for various festivals and events, will be transformed into the site of the "Book Festival" on October 27.
The Book Festival, planned and operated by 16 libraries located in Dongdaemun-gu and the Eastern Education Support Office, will feature ▲book exchanges ▲11 experience programs ▲meetings with authors, providing a variety of enjoyable activities from 1 PM to 5 PM.
In particular, the book exchange event will be expanded compared to last year. 750 new books are being prepared for exchange with used books, and festival participants can exchange two used books published within the last three years for one new book. Each person can exchange up to two new books.
At the Dongdaemun-gu Book Festival, visitors can also enjoy 11 experience booths including ▲making wooden fairy night lamps ▲creating autumn-scented book perfumes ▲making mother-of-pearl bookmarks ▲making book stamps, and more.
From 3 PM, a lecture by Kang Kyung-su, the author of the popular children's comic series "Code Name Series," will be held on the outdoor stage. The lecture will delve into the secrets of creation, focusing on the author’s latest work, "Code Name Shortcut." Attendees who bring the author’s book can also receive an autograph after the lecture.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, "I hope this festival will encourage more children to visit libraries, communicate through books, and grow together with books."
