The Netflix variety show "Black and White Chefs: The Culinary Class War" (hereafter "Black and White Chefs") has recently concluded with great popularity, and 'Triple Star' Chef Kang Seung-won addressed the controversies surrounding him.

On the 18th, a video titled "Triple Star... You Came to Explain, Right?" was uploaded on the YouTube channel "Paik Jong Won PAIK JONG WON." In the video, Chef Kang, who appeared as part of the Black Spoon team on "Black and White Chefs," appeared as a guest and spoke with Paik Jong Won, CEO of The Born Korea, who served as a judge on the show.

When CEO Paik asked, "Did you receive a lot of criticism?" Chef Kang replied with a smile, "Yes, I did." Then CEO Paik said, "Actually, it wasn't malicious editing. The production team just captured the comments well. Didn't they apologize to you a lot afterward?" Chef Kang explained, "I didn't mean to disrespect you. I said, 'Will you be able to recognize my cooking?' and then added, 'I felt good because you recognized everything,' but the latter part was cut out in the broadcast."

Previously, during the first mission preparation on "Black and White Chefs," Chef Kang stated, "Honestly, I wanted to be evaluated by judge Ahn Seong-jae rather than judge Paik Jong Won," adding, "I know judge Paik prefers intuitive and popular flavors, but I wondered if he could understand all the detailed aspects of my cooking." This remark sparked public backlash, with some criticizing him for belittling CEO Paik, a master of the domestic dining industry, simply because he runs a fine dining establishment.

In response, CEO Paik said, "Still, that incident increased the show's buzz," and added, "Chef Kang was one of the predicted winners. I was truly impressed by his culinary skills." Furthermore, he said, "From now on, people shouldn't hate Chef Kang," explaining, "Because the filming time was very long, the editing process shortened it, which caused this misunderstanding. The production team did not do it intentionally."

Meanwhile, "Black and White Chefs" is a variety show depicting a culinary class war among 100 chefs, where the highly skilled 'Black Spoon' chefs, who are praised for their exceptional taste, challenge the top star chefs known as 'White Spoon' in South Korea. The show ranked number one in the non-English TV series category in Korea on Netflix upon release and gained great popularity by entering the top 10 in 28 countries including Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
