Controversy has erupted after the message exchanges and call recordings between former announcer-turned-broadcaster Park Ji-yoon and her husband Choi Dong-seok were made public, with a netizen filing a police investigation request regarding their alleged 'marital sexual assault' case.

On the 18th, complainant A submitted a petition to the National Police Agency's online civil complaint system titled, "The police must thoroughly investigate the sexual assault case involving Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok and strictly punish them if criminal charges are confirmed."

A stated, "While the state should exercise maximum restraint in intervening in the sexual life of a married couple from the perspective of preserving the family, since former KBS announcer Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok have entered divorce mediation, it appears they have already fallen outside the scope of a normal family." He added, "Especially since the substance of sexual assault has been revealed through Dispatch, it is necessary to clearly examine whether Choi Dong-seok fundamentally violated Park Ji-yoon's sexual self-determination rights." He further emphasized, "I strongly urge the police to thoroughly investigate the sexual assault case involving Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok and to ensure they are strictly punished if criminal charges are found." Currently, the petition has been assigned to the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Police Agency, and the processing period is within 7 to 14 days from the date of receipt by the final processing agency.

Earlier, entertainment media Dispatch reported on the message exchanges and recorded conversations between the two, presenting both sides' statements. The most controversial part was when Park Ji-yoon asked Choi Dong-seok, "Can I tell our child that 'your father tried to assault me'?" At that time, Choi Dong-seok responded, "That can happen between a married couple," to which Park Ji-yoon reportedly retorted, "Sexual assault can be established even between spouses."

Meanwhile, Park Ji-yoon and Choi Dong-seok, both KBS announcers from the 30th class, married in November 2009 and have one son and one daughter. They announced their separation last October after 14 years of marriage. Subsequently, in June, Park Ji-yoon filed a lawsuit claiming damages for alienation of affection against Choi Dong-seok's female acquaintance A, and at the end of last month, Choi Dong-seok filed a countersuit against Park Ji-yoon's male acquaintance. Meanwhile, Choi Dong-seok has posted several seemingly critical messages targeting Park Ji-yoon on social media and appeared on TV Chosun's variety show "Now I'm Alone," where he expressed his feelings.
