Boseong-gun, the most famous green onion producing area in the country, is in full swing harvesting open-field green onions from October.
The expected production volume of Boseong green onions this year is about 16,000 tons, which is expected to be similar to last year. Farmers plan to continue harvesting green onions until the end of November.

Boseong green onions, grown in the Deukryangman area exposed to sea breeze, are the largest production area in Jeollanam-do, cultivated over 860 hectares around Hoecheon-myeon and Deukryang-myeon. They are famous for their excellent quality and are popular nationwide.
In particular, fresh green onions boast high demand among consumers and are used in various dishes. Additionally, through sales on the agricultural product online direct transaction market ‘Boseong Mall,’ fresh green onions are supplied to consumers, positively impacting farmers' income.
A green onion farmer said, “This year’s green onions have a strong aroma and a sharp, outstanding taste.” He added, “We are very pleased to deliver high-quality green onions to consumers.”
A county official stated, “We plan to continue efforts to improve the quality of Boseong green onions,” and “We will do our best to support farmers to revitalize the local economy.”
