Creating a Healing Space for Residents Using Byeolbitnaericheon Children's Water Playground
Installing Colorful Autumn Flowers like Chrysanthemums, Asters, Pink Muhly, and Various Sculptures... Popular Photo Zones
In November, the 'Byeolbit Sanchaek (Lighting Festival)' Continues, Offering Endless Attractions
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) has filled Byeolbitnaerimcheon near the Byeolbit Sinsari commercial district (Sinwon Market · Gwanak General Market · Seowon-dong Shopping Street (Sundae Town)) with the fragrance of chrysanthemums.
As part of the ‘Byeolbit Sinsari Commercial District Renaissance’ project, the district created a ‘Chrysanthemum Garden’ to revitalize the commercial area. In particular, the project increased efficiency by utilizing a children's water playground that is not used during the winter season.
The garden is planted with various types of chrysanthemums, gujeolcho (Aster yomena), asters, pink muhly grass, and other colorful flowers, offering residents visiting Byeolbitnaerimcheon a place for autumn relaxation and romance.
The garden, created under the subtitle ‘Ducks Come to Byeolbitnaerimcheon for an Autumn Outing,’ features sculptures shaped like ducks, butterflies, and hearts, serving as popular photo zones for residents.
Additionally, point lighting is installed throughout the garden, allowing residents who visit at night to fully enjoy the scent of autumn chrysanthemums.
In 2020, Gwanak-gu was selected as the first district in Seoul to participate in the ‘Commercial District Renaissance Project’ announced by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. Receiving a total project budget of 8 billion KRW, the district is laying the groundwork for revitalizing the commercial area through environmental improvements and festivals over five years until March 2025.
This year marks the final year of the Byeolbit Sinsari Commercial District Renaissance project, and the district is making every effort to finish strong. To keep up with consumer trends and secure customers accustomed to delivery services, the district has promoted Naver’s ‘Neighborhood Market Shopping,’ operated parking booths, and produced hygiene products using the commercial district’s BI to enhance convenience for users.
In particular, in November, along with the Chrysanthemum Garden, Gwanak-gu’s representative festival, the ‘4th Byeolbit Walk (Lighting Festival),’ will begin. The Byeolbit Festival will continue until mid-February next year and will offer various attractions and entertainment for residents visiting Byeolbitnaerimcheon, including ▲ flea market operations ▲ relay performances ▲ store coupon booths.
Mayor Park Junhee said, “Byeolbitnaerimcheon is a waterfront space representing Gwanak-gu and is a very important resource for residents’ leisure and relaxation,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to develop various policies that revitalize local commercial districts such as Byeolbit Sinsari by utilizing Byeolbitnaerimcheon.”
