There are allegations that a student at a test site where the Yonsei University early admission natural sciences essay exam papers were accidentally distributed early sent information about some questions via mobile phone to a student in another test site before the exam started.
Yonhap News reported this on the 17th, citing statements from Mr. A, a person in his 20s who is pushing for a class-action lawsuit against Yonsei University.
Mr. A stated, "It has been newly confirmed that a student at the test site where the exam papers were distributed early sent information about some essay questions, including two short-answer and one subjective question, via (mobile phone) message to a friend at another test site at 1:27 p.m., about 30 minutes before the exam started."
He explained that the student who sent the message made a 'confession of conscience' and that the content of some of the six questions at the time was conveyed. He also said, "(The message content) was information about the questions, not sharing the entire problem content," but added, "If any information can help solve the problems, it constitutes a leak."
Earlier, some students and parents who took the Yonsei University natural sciences essay exam are currently preparing a class-action lawsuit and a provisional injunction to invalidate the exam, citing compromised fairness. Mr. A said that about 100 students and parents had expressed their intention to participate in the lawsuit by 3 p.m. that day. The student who made the 'confession of conscience' also joined the class-action lawsuit. Mr. A explained, "We plan to close recruitment of participants today and sign a contract with a lawyer," adding, "We expect to file the lawsuit sometime next week."
Previously, on the 12th, at a test site where the Yonsei University early admission natural sciences essay exam was held, an incident occurred where the exam papers were distributed about an hour before the exam started due to a supervisor's mistake and then collected. Subsequently, photos of the natural sciences exam papers and practice answers for the humanities exam, apparently taken by a student, were posted on online communities, sparking controversy over question leaks.
As the controversy grew, Yonsei University filed a complaint against the students who posted the exam paper photos online on charges of obstruction of business. The university also requested the police to investigate whether any acts compromising the fairness of the entire essay exam procedure had occurred.
