The documentary film 'Gilwie Kim Dae-jung' will have a sequel titled 'President Kim Dae-jung,' which will be produced through sponsorship funds.
The production committee of the film 'President Kim Dae-jung' announced on the 17th, "We plan to produce the film together with the public, raising sponsorship funds not only domestically but also targeting overseas Koreans." The film aims to be completed within this year.
'Gilwie Kim Dae-jung,' released in January, recorded the footsteps of politician Kim Dae-jung toward democracy and the tumultuous trajectory of his life, attracting 130,000 viewers. The sequel, 'President Kim Dae-jung,' depicts the dramatic journey of President Kim Dae-jung and the people after his fourth attempt, achieving Korea's first peaceful transfer of power in 1997. It covers key turning points in modern history through Kim Dae-jung's life.
The direction of 'President Kim Dae-jung' is by director Jung Sung-hoon, who created KBS's 50th Anniversary of Liberation documentary 'Gil' and MBC's special project 'Doctors Who Went to Pyongyang.' Following the previous work, Myung Films and Cinema6411 are producing the film. Sponsorship fundraising will continue until the end of the year.
