Namyangju City Provides Elder Abuse Prevention and Professional Development Training for Long-term Care Facility Workers

Namyangju City conducted training on elder abuse prevention and professional development for long-term care institution workers at Dasan Hall on the 16th, in collaboration with the Gyeonggi-do Long-term Care Worker Support Center.

Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 17th that it conducted education on elder abuse prevention and professionalism enhancement for long-term care institution workers at Dasan Hall on the 16th, in collaboration with the Gyeonggi-do Long-term Care Worker Support Center.

About 200 workers from long-term care institutions in the area attended this training, which covered elder abuse prevention for the protection of elderly human rights, as well as professionalism enhancement education on pressure ulcers and fall prevention.

The training was divided into two parts. In the first part, Lee Hwan-hee, head of the Northern Gyeonggi Elder Protection Agency, served as the instructor and provided education on elder abuse prevention and human rights protection. Through this, workers understood the importance of preventing elder abuse and learned practical response measures based on abuse cases that could occur within facilities.

In the second part, Professor Jang Seon-joo from the College of Nursing at Seoul National University conducted professionalism enhancement education on pressure ulcer and fall prevention. Professor Jang explained the concepts, causes, and prevention methods of pressure ulcers and falls, providing knowledge that enables better care for the elderly, which received great responses.

The city plans to strengthen cooperative projects aimed at improving awareness of long-term care institutions, along with continuous education for mandatory training completion, capacity building, and rights enhancement of long-term care workers in the area, in partnership with the Gyeonggi-do Long-term Care Worker Support Center.
