The Nation's Largest Metaverse Event 'KMF 2024' Held from 17th to 19th

'Korea Metaverse Festival' Held at Yangjae aT

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 17th that it will hold '2024 Korea Metaverse Festival (hereinafter KMF 2024)', the largest metaverse industry event in Korea, from today until the 19th at the entire Yangjae aT Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

Marking its 9th year, KMF 2024 is held under the theme "Metaverse, Taking Flight on the Wings of Convergence!" The opening ceremony will feature an opening address by Shin Su-jeong, President of the Korea Metaverse Industry Association, a welcome speech by Yoo Sang-im, Minister of Science and ICT, congratulatory remarks by Yoo Ji-sang, Chair of the Metaverse Alliance, National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee members Choi Hyung-doo (People Power Party) and Kim Hyun (Democratic Party), the awarding of the Minister’s Prize at the Metaverse Developer Competition, and the opening ceremony celebration.


The global conference 'The MEANS', held from the afternoon of the 17th through the 18th, will include the Ministry of Science and ICT’s metaverse policy announcement and presentations by experts from metaverse companies such as Caliverse, Microsoft, Google Cloud, Epic Games, and Qualcomm, sharing insights on the future of the industry and business strategies.


On the 18th, the 2024 Global Metaverse Conference (GMC)-BRIDGE will feature a keynote speech by world-renowned scholar Sam Richard from Pennsylvania State University on the theme "Metaverse and the Future of Korea." Domestic and international experts from Google Korea, Roblox, HTC, and others will propose directions for a new digital order and global win-win development suitable for the Web 3.0 era.


In addition, the event will host the Metaverse Alliance division-integrated open seminar, the K-Hackathon finals, and the Metaverse Developer Competition awards ceremony.


A total of 158 companies will participate in this exhibition to showcase metaverse products and services. Caliverse will present 'Caliverse,' an ultra-realistic metaverse platform globally launched in August.


Woongjin ThinkBig will introduce 'Lingo City,' an AI-based metaverse English speaking education platform that has secured 13,000 paid subscribers since its official service launch this month.


At the public experience center, visitors can experience the latest metaverse technologies including content, services, and devices.


Minister Yoo Sang-im stated, "The metaverse is a new industry representing the digital era, rapidly developing and spreading through convergence with digital technologies such as virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud computing." He added, "I hope KMF 2024 will be an opportunity to envision the future that advanced digital technologies will transform."
