Appearance as Defendant
Singer Jessi urged strict punishment for the perpetrator in connection with an incident where a fan who requested a photo was assaulted by someone in her group.
Jessi appeared at the Seoul Gangnam Police Station at around 10:06 PM on the 16th. Wearing a black hat and pants, Jessi faced the press and, when asked if she admitted to the charges, stated, "I hope the person who hit [the fan] is found quickly and receives punishment." She added, "I saw the perpetrator for the first time on the day of the incident" and expressed, "I am very sorry to the victim."
Earlier, on the 29th of last month, an incident occurred in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where a minor fan approached Jessi to request a photo and was assaulted by a man identified as Mr. A, who was near Jessi.
Jessi tried to stop the assault but then left the scene. Later, when the police arrived at the scene, they found Jessi’s group nearby and asked about Mr. A’s whereabouts, but they reportedly answered that they did not know. The police are currently identifying Mr. A’s identity.
In addition to Mr. A, who assaulted the victim, a total of four people, including the producer who was with Jessi at the time and other members of the group, have been reported and booked on charges including assault by the victim.
After the controversy arose, on the 12th, Jessi posted on her social media, "I was too flustered by the sudden situation at the time and could not carefully consider the fan," and added, "I am making efforts to ensure that the perpetrator receives appropriate punishment."
