The by-election for the mayor of Ganghwa-gun, Incheon, which was considered a stronghold of the People Power Party, is showing a close race.
As of 10:15 PM on the 16th, with 50.1% of the votes counted, Park Yong-chul, the People Power Party candidate, is in first place with 49.6%. Han Yeon-hee, the Democratic Party candidate, is trailing by 4.6 percentage points with 45.0%. Independent candidate Ahn Sang-soo has 4.7%, and independent candidate Kim Byung-yeon has 0.7%.
The election in this area is showing a pattern where the gap between candidates narrows to around 3% and then widens again.
