Comedian Lim Woo-il (43) apologized for the controversy over false and exaggerated advertising related to hair loss products, saying, "I am truly sorry for causing harm due to my ignorance."
On the 16th, Lim Woo-il posted on the community board of the YouTube channel '180 Seconds,' saying, "I wanted to quickly explain the situation, but due to contractual matters, it took time to write this post," and bowed his head regarding the controversy over false and exaggerated advertising surrounding him.
He said, "I am truly sorry for causing harm to those who support me despite my shortcomings due to my ignorance," adding, "Blinded by the attention and income I received at a late age, I foolishly filmed the advertisement without ever thinking that it would become a problem."
Recently, Lim Woo-il advertised on his YouTube channel that using a hair loss care product from a cosmetics company would make "(hair volume) dense like a wig." He also used expressions such as "(When applied, hair) grows this well" and "Baby hairs are gradually coming up." Regarding this, the whistleblower YouTuber 'Samangyeowoo TV' posted the advertisement scene on his YouTube community on the 10th, pointing out that "advertising like this is not allowed" and labeling it as false and exaggerated advertising.
Lim Woo-il said, "After recognizing the controversy over the advertisement, I informed the agency of the situation and requested that all controversial advertisements be taken down," and apologized again, saying, "I sincerely apologize for causing concern to those who trusted me due to my ignorance."
He continued, "I know very well how precious the attention is since it was given to someone who is not outstanding in any way," and said, "I will always be careful and cautious to prevent such problems from happening again." He added, "If I arrogantly make mistakes or errors, please scold me sharply like this time. I will always gratefully accept it as attention and live with a clear mind." He bowed his head once again, apologizing for causing problems due to his foolishness.
Lim Woo-il debuted as a KBS public recruitment comedian in 2011 but went through a long period of obscurity before recently gaining attention through YouTube. He started YouTube activities with junior Lee Seung-hwan around March 2022 and currently has over 615,000 subscribers. Based on his realistic acting skills, he has even created a kind of meme online called 'Woo-il hyung form is crazy.'
