On the 7th, Gyeongbuk Technopark attended the "22nd Low Birthrate and War Innovation Policy Meeting" and conducted expert proposals and discussions.
The discussion was attended by Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, the Deputy Governors for Administration and Economy, heads of departments and bureaus, as well as heads of public institutions in the province including the Director of Gyeongbuk Technopark, CEO of Gyeongbuk Happiness Foundation, President of Gyeongbuk Research Institute, and Director of Gyeongbuk Women’s Policy Development Institute.
First, at the meeting, Ha In-seong, Director of Gyeongbuk TP, presented the topic “Gyeongbuk-type Care Industry Development Plan,” an economic project to overcome low birthrate, highlighting the necessity and effectiveness of fostering the ‘care industry’ as a crucial clue to overcoming low birthrate.
He pointed out that the care crisis caused by the shortage and qualitative decline of care services is a global phenomenon, and that in South Korea, where care demand is rapidly increasing, the lack of quality care supply has led to low birthrate.
He emphasized that if the rising expectations of care service users are not met in the future, the low birthrate problem cannot be solved, and ultimately, it is necessary to improve the quality of life of care recipients through a balanced approach to various fields of the care industry such as services, products, infrastructure, and workforce.
He first proposed a development plan for the AI·ICT convergence-type care robot industry, and based on full-cycle support for care robots from development to demonstration and dissemination, Gyeongbuk TP plans to promote branding as the “Advanced Care Robot Leading City, Gyeongbuk.”
Furthermore, focusing on the need to create a friendly corporate environment for women who can re-enter economic activities through fostering the care industry, he proposed measures to “revitalize women’s enterprises (startups).”
Ha In-seong, Director of Gyeongbuk Technopark, said, “We will use the promotion of innovation in the care ecosystem, which causes positive social, economic, and industrial effects, as a breakthrough to overcome low birthrate while revitalizing local industry and economy.”
