Dangjin City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 15th that it has opened the second branch of Mindulle Workplace, a sheltered workshop for people with disabilities, to expand job opportunities for people with disabilities, which is a pledge of the 8th popularly elected administration.
Mindulle Workplace, first opened in Sinpyeong-myeon in 2015, is a vocational rehabilitation facility for people with disabilities that supports their economic activities and independence through promotional material printing and nut production.
The city established the second branch of Mindulle Workplace to expand job opportunities for people with disabilities, utilizing a 261-square-meter unused space in the Disabled Persons Center, which was built in 2021, as part of the 8th administration's pledge.
At the second branch, in addition to existing products such as nut packaging and promotional material printing, LED lighting fixtures are produced, providing jobs for ten people with developmental disabilities.
At the opening ceremony held at the Disabled Persons Center on this day, more than 50 people attended, including Dangjin Mayor Oh Seonghwan, Dangjin City Council Chairman Seo Younghun, Mindullecheoreom Social Welfare Foundation Chairman Lim Kyungwon, and Chungnam Association of Vocational Rehabilitation Facilities for the Disabled President Cho Youngjae, to celebrate the opening of the branch and encourage workers with disabilities.
Lee Geunbang, Director of Mindulle Workplace, said, "It is not easy for people with disabilities to live an ordinary daily life just like non-disabled people," and added, "We will provide stable jobs for people with disabilities so that they can live independently and thrive in the local community."
Dangjin Mayor Oh Seonghwan stated, "The most important thing for people with disabilities to live independently in the community is to provide jobs where they can earn income," and added, "We will continue to expand high-quality jobs that people with disabilities want to have, just like the second branch of Mindulle Workplace."
