Gukddeok, Kwanghee 'Discount Event' Naver Store Promotion... "Celebrating 21.5 Million Packs Sold Globally"

The classic soup tteokbokki, ‘Chueok-ui Gukminhakgyo Tteokbokki (Guktteok),’ will reveal a promotion on the Guktteok Naver Brand Store through Hwang Kwanghee’s YouTube web variety show ‘Hal-injeon’ (Discount Battle).


According to Guktteok on the 16th, the discount promotion running from the 16th to the 23rd is a customer appreciation event celebrating the global cumulative sales of 21.5 million packs of Guktteok, alongside the popularity of K-food, featuring about 10 major popular products.


Especially, the ‘Guktteok Rose’ tteokbokki, launched this August and previously unavailable for heavy discounts due to limited supply, will participate in the 40% discount event.


The discount package including the best-selling ‘Guktteok Original’ will offer the first official 50% discount to general consumers in 18 years on the Naver official mall.


Visiting the Guktteok headquarters for content filming, Hwang Kwanghee said, “It’s a brand I have used for a long time,” and expressed his affection for the product, saying, “I’ve tried it before, and the rice cakes are really chewy.”


Seong Seuchan PD, CEO of ‘Solomon Code,’ the production company of Hwang Kwanghee’s ‘Hal-injeon,’ said, “We are pleased to produce Guktteok’s first branded content through the ‘Hal-injeon’ program,” adding, “Since I personally enjoy the Guktteok brand, we made sure it would come out as friendly and entertaining content.”


A representative from E&C Creative, the manufacturer of Guktteok, said, “‘Chueok-ui Gukminhakgyo Tteokbokki,’ recognized as the epitome of tteokbokki meal kits purely by word of mouth with a repurchase rate exceeding 60% on our mall, has surpassed 21.5 million packs globally. At this milestone, we planned the discount event as a celebration and thanks to our existing domestic brand fans.”


Meanwhile, Guktteok will participate in the ‘Paris SIAL’ exhibition held in Paris, France, for five days from the 19th to the 23rd. ‘Paris SIAL’ is Europe’s largest food expo, celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, with participation from 7,500 companies across 130 countries worldwide.


A Guktteok official emphasized, “Through this exhibition, we plan to actively target the European market, having confirmed meetings with major buyers and local partners, and aim to spread the taste of K-food tteokbokki worldwide to expand our global competitiveness.”
